Dear Parents and/or Guardians,
As you probably know, Paul Harding Junior High students will be taking the second part of the ISTEP test the week of April 29th, 2013. The teachers and staff members of PHJH have been encouraging and supporting our students all year to do their best on standardized assessments. At the beginning of the school year, we established two success periods daily, one for math and one for language arts, for all students. Teachers and staff members have done a lot this year to help make a difference in each one of our students’ lives by building rigor, relevance, and positive relationships.
Now is your opportunity to show your support and commitment to your student. We would like you to write an encouraging note to your student(s). We believe this might help him/her focus more and feel like they can pass the state test (ISTEP). If you choose to send a note or message, please use the attached form. Then return your note to school addressed to Ms. Branigan or Mrs. Newman. Your message will be given to your child some time the week of testing (April 29 – May 6). The 8th Grade students will be testing Tuesday, April 30 – Thursday, May 2. The 7th graders will be testing Tuesday, April 30 – Monday, May 6. All make-ups will be completed by Friday, May 10.
